Responsible Use of AI

ABC AI Community PartnersThe document below, "A Guide to Ethical and Responsible AI Use at ABC Unified School District," serves as a valuable resource for our educational community. It outlines the principles, strategies, and best practices for integrating AI tools in teaching and learning while promoting ethical and responsible use. By following these guidelines, we aim to foster a forward-thinking and collaborative environment that embraces the potential of AI while upholding our commitment to the highest standards of education.

Community Feedback
Thank you for your feedback! We provided a month-long window during which we accepted and published community feedback on ABC Unified's Ethical and Responsible Use of AI Guidance Document through June 30, 2024. All feedback received is posted below. And next to each general comment on AI in education, we've offered a response connected to our guidance document and how we've updated and responded to your comments.

The primary goals of this feedback form are to:
  • Raise awareness about AI in education, both broadly and specifically within the context of AI at ABC Unified.
  • Collect insights from our community partners on our AI philosophy, approach, and tools to ensure a collaborative and informed strategy
  • Address any concerns or questions our broader partner community may have regarding AI in education.

To ensure transparency while still maintaining your privacy, we published all comments submitted through this form, as long as they adhere to our ABC Unified communication policy. While we collected name and role for our records, only roles are displayed on the website next to your feedback. Your input is crucial in helping us shape the future of AI integration within our educational community.

Community Roundtables
We gathered members of the ABC Community to participate in three roundtable meetings in June to discuss the guidance document and the feedback received with an eye towards how we implement the use of AI across our schools in the 24-25 school year and beyond. Invites were sent out to key partner groups, but all were welcome! We even invited experts from LACOE and neighboring districts with experience deploying guidance on Generative AI to participate as well.

Community Roundtables will be held quarterly in the 2024-25 school year:
  • October TBD
  • January TBD
  • April TBD

They were previously held on these dates:
      • Tuesday, June 11 - Whitney High School
      • Wednesday, June 19 - Hawaiian Elementary School
      • Tuesday, June 25 - ONLINE via zoom
