ABC High Schools Highly Ranked Again
Last week, U.S. News and World Reports released its high school rankings, and ABC Unified School District schools were ranked in the top 775 of 1,652 schools statewide. Topping the list and holding as the second-ranked high school in California is Whitney High School. The school was also ranked eleventh nationally. Cerritos High School is ranked 85th, Gahr High School came in at 215th, and Artesia ranked 775th statewide. All four of the District’s comprehensive high schools were ranked in the top 46 percent of California’s high schools.
“It’s always great to see our schools ranked highly by outside organizations,” said Superintendent Dr. Gina Zietlow. “Although we are extremely excited about these rankings, our measure of success comes when we see our students graduate and move on to college or a great career.”
All ABCUSD high schools had graduation rates above 97 percent, and all four schools were ranked in the top third nationally.
“Yes! We are so proud of our high schools and all they do for our students,” said Board of Education President Mrs. Sophia Tse. “Congratulations to our students, families, teachers, and staff. Because of your commitment and dedication, our schools continue to do well and earn national recognition.”
The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on nearly 25,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Almost 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
